blown away on day 1

Day one under our belts and phew, what a day it was. As you'd expect with the spring we've had, the winds were howling up to 30 mph and temps were wind-chilled into the 40's as we started...(even Jordan was wearing pants instead of shorts!) and fortunately for us, these conditions aren't unusual this season, so out we went, though some other teams decided to hibernate in the clubhouse and hotel. Lucky for us the skies cleared and though the wind continued to blow, the sunshine made conditions much more tolerable. Karla and Jordan had a good practice as they started formulating their course-playing strategy. The first order of business there will be to hit the fairways as the no-mow grasses are thickening as we speak. But judging from the way their practice round went, I'm expecting them to be in the short grass with regularity! The wind made playing very tough; from choosing the right club, the proper target, as well as keeping chips and putts on line. We'll welcome some calmer conditions in the next few days! But as you can see from the photo, even walking the course in 30 mph winds are fun when it's happening at Nationals!
